- I am the wife of my best friend and man of my dreams.
- I am the mommy of a wonderful baby boy who is the light of my life.
- I am a 34-year old woman who has been all over the place with her weight and fitness and finally settled into a groove.
- I am someone who has tried almost every diet out there and have now lost over 90 pounds in a healthy way.
- I am someone who makes mistakes (80lb weight gain during pregnancy anyone?) but who picks herself back up again and starts over.
- I am a runner (4.5 years old!) who has completed 8 half marathons and 3 full marathons. In early 2011, I fell in love with trail and ultrarunning and went on to complete trail races at the 50K and 50 mile distances.
- I am a little bit addicted to a thing called CrossFit.
- I am not a personal trainer or any kind of fitness or nutrition expert.
- I am determined to be fit!
I blog about my personal fitness and weight loss journey. I mostly stick to CrossFit and running for exercise. I have a deep love for step aerobics though and I throw that in too whenever I can.
I achieved the majority of my post-baby weight loss in the Precision Nutrition Lean Eating program and I’ve had success using SparkPeople in the past. Here’s what I was up to last year and what I’m looking forward to accomplishing this year. I also occasionally post about music I love, foods I like, and my favorite baby boy Lewis.

I need to tap into you as a resource! I’m starting to find enjoyment in running (although my knees seem to fail me at times). Any tips on breathing and/or breaking through periods of muscle fatigue?
You are an inspiration. I am 35 and have lost over 70 lbs and am a baby runner too! I started running in 2009 to lose weight after my second child. I see you’ve only done one marathon and you are signed up for a ton of half marathons. Do you plan to do anymore full marathons?
High five to you! Not planning another full in the near future. The training just takes so much time and takes so much energy! I will do it again one day though because I want the sub-4 finish that I trained for!
Hello,
I happened to stumble upon your blog via ‘Run Like A Mother’ after I read your incredible story! I love your blog so far. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to many more nice reads.

I will be following you
i remember you from spark people so long ago!!! 2007? 2008? anyway, i think you were getting ready to be married. i lost touch with spark people since then. i did a half marathon in 2008, and thought i was all that. your page inspired be back then and i am blessed to find you again via blackgirlsrun.com. i am still attempting to morph into a bonafide runner. i am walking about 15 miles a week, and not really running, due to inconsistency…i guess.
anyway, i will be following because i really want to be a runner, and you inspire beyond words. keep blogging! and congrats on marriage and baby!
Thank you and yes I was all about the Spark during that time frame! I kind of moved to BabyFit once I had a baby and then got distracted by other outlets post-baby. I still think it is a great site though!
I read your article posted on the Black Girls Run blog. Thanks so much for sharing the tools to your success as a runner. I’m on a serious mission to improve my times in both the 5k and 1/2 marathon.
You can do it – really. I like the half distance way better than I do the 5K. It is so much easier to improve when you have 13 miles to make a difference!
