First Foods

We introduced Lewis to rice cereal a few weeks ago when he turned 5 months old.  Maybe it was too soon because he didn’t really enjoy it very much!  Why in the world do parents rush to start solids?!?  Feeding someone who has barely learned to accept a spoon and has the attention span of – well of an infant – is no fun!

The rice cereal was not very successful.  I only tried it a few times.  I also tried avocado a few times and he didn’t appear to like that either.  I will try both again because I know a few attempts is too soon to write off a food.  We did have some success with banana…he actually willingly opens his mouth for that one!  Yay!  Let me have any kind of food in my mouth though and he will stalk me with his eyes and open his mouth all extra wide.  The Mister put a fruit snack (yeah I know) in his mouth and nearly got his finger gummed to death.  Go figure!

  1. yeah solid foods is all about trial and error. they never seem to have problems with the sweet stuff! he’s too cute sitting in his high chair.

ps Marlie mean mugs other people all the time. She liked her play date very much although all they did was grab at each others face and hair!

Arghhhhh, my ovaries are hurting again. Why do you torture me this way, Keyalus!??!

Apparently, little Lewis is hiding a sweet tooth under them gums. If you eat the cereal, he might be more willing to eat it. However, then you might want to barf, which might scar him for life. Have you tasted that stuff? It’s awful!!! My daughter wouldn’t go near that stuff with a 10 foot pole.

I used to mix my baby sister and brothers rice cereal with the stuff they liked. That seemed to help.

You know you want to give your daughter a brother or sister! I’m not eating that cereal…no way. I was considering mixing it with something else. If he doesn’t like it after a few more tries…I give up. There are many other things he can try!

Shoot, I’d gum a finger off for some fruit chews, especially the Welcher’s.

If I were you, I’d proceed with caution the next time you try and feed Lewis that rice cereal because he looks HE might have to catch a case if you try him one mo time. He is too cute.

LOL! They *are* Welch’s fruit snacks and oh how I love them. I shouldn’t be eating those things so I always ask for 5 when I see The Mister with them. Just 5 fruit snacks please!

In a few months you will forget that he didn’t like cereal, he will be trying to eat everything off your plate too, LOL.
