When I went back to work in late October after maternity leave, I had a goal of hitting my pre-baby weight by Lewis’ first birthday. Yeah, that one’s not going to happen. I started the month at about 175 and the last time I did a scale check I was 171 (after a 7 mile run so that doesn’t really count LOL). I don’t foresee hitting 155 in the next few weeks, so time to set a new goal.
“Six by six” is my new goal. I am shooting for a six pound loss each month for the next 6 months. This would put me at 139lbs and give me a nearly 100 pound weight loss since having the baby! The 140-145lb range is a good look for me physically (or at least it used to be) and one that is maintainable without a lot of effort and extra strict dieting.
I signed up for the Lean Eating Program again to keep me on track and I’m claiming a finalist spot in advance this time around. It isn’t about the chance to win money for me (although that would be awesome). It is about me finishing what I started. It is about me being focused for the next 6 months. I feel like I’m at a point in my weight loss journey* where I will be able to see a dramatic difference if I do what I say I’m going to do. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve come so far from where I’ve been and I only have a little more weight left to lose. This is the home stretch.
So I’m doing the Lean Eating Program again and exercising my butt off. I still attend CrossFit bootcamp 3x a week and I still love it. I’m now in training for the first of 3 half-marathons I have planned for the fall/winter running season. If I watch my nutrition, I can surely lose a measly 6 pounds of month with all of that exercise going on!
I’m off to a nice start this month with a loss of 2-3 pounds already. I’m excited about kicking the butt of this last 35 lbs!
*I hate that word from watching 15 seasons of The Bachelor (#dontjudgeme) but it applies to this situation.

You strike me as being very muscular (judging from the photo you posted a week or so ago). muscle weighs more than fat. have you factored that into your weight loss goal?
I am actually! That is why 140 on me looks smaller than it should on someone 5’3″. I do have this goal in abstract but I am reserving judgement as I get smaller. I have more lean body mass now because I gained all of that weight. If I don’t lose the newer muscle and lose pure fat, I will probably look how I want to look at a much higher weight. If 150 looks like my old 135 I will happily stop!
” If 150 looks like my old 135 I will happily stop!”
That’s a good Goal to me! I did that when i was losing weight( unintentionally lol) and mind you I have never been a small person. Not my entire life! So I started at a size 24 and got down to a size 12 and on me, a size 12 doesn’t look good AT ALL. People kept asking me was I sick and my friends mom tried to feed me everytime I came over her house lol. So I’m not a 14 and that’s the size I’m most comfortable. Now the baby added a belly and some side love I didn’t have before so I need to work on that. But I really think a personal goal is always a good way to get where you want to be. You look awesome already!
