Minimize Me Monday

Stats for the week.

+3 pounds. Hmm.  I’m not really sure what that is about or if it is even valid.  It could be sodium.  I don’t know.  Hip measurement is down .25 inches again.  I am also down .5 inches in the waist (or the measurement that I will call my waist).  I feel better and my jeans feel looser.

What kind of progress did you make on exercise for the week?

This was not a good exercise week.  I was off for Veteran’s Day and decided to sleep in that morning instead of doing C25K.  Then I strained my back doing Power Cleans at CrossFit.  I didn’t feel anything bad happen – I just suddenly couldn’t pick up the barbell anymore.  I finished the pullups and pushups and sprints in the rest of the workout just fine though.  Going from a sitting to standing position or twisting from side to side triggered some awful pain.  I decided to take it easy the rest of the week to avoid aggravating things so no C25K or CrossFit on Friday.  My back was still hurting on Saturday so no bonus exercise or catching up on C25K.  Talk about a wasted week!  The good news is that I feel fine now.

Anything you can do to improve on fitness this week?

Yes.  I can avoid hurting myself!  I’m glad I decided to rest up and heal.  I had a good C25K session this morning.  So back to the normal grind.

How was your diet this week?

Despite the unexplained weight gain my diet was pretty good this week.  It wasn’t totally clean or anything but an improvement.

How will you improve your diet next week?

I did a better job cooking this week.  I might be getting the hang of this thing!  This week I want to work on eating MORE.  I was successful with weight loss before using mini-meals.  I ate 5 to 6 times a day.  I’m nowhere near that now and it is hurting me as far as getting in all my fruits and veggies.  So this week I want to work on having 5 fruits/veggies every day.

Anything else?

  • I seem to have lost the chest strap for my Polar RS800 running watch.  This sucks!  A replacement is $65.  I’ve got to find that thing!  Maybe I should clean up my bedroom.  It is probably buried under something. :)
  • I am contemplating trying the Paleo diet that they are so hip on at my CrossFit gym.  I don’t know if I can give up grains again though.  I don’t think any food group is really evil so going back to that mentality is hard.  I did Atkin’s with great success for 3 years but my body looked better when I just ate a balanced diet with more protein than your typical person.  I don’t know.
  • I am getting more sleep now that the boy sleeps more during the night but I’m still tired though.  I have a horrible “sleep debt” that it seems will never be repaid.  The lack of sleep that goes down in that first month or so of motherhood does a number on you.  Lack of sleep is no good for weight loss.
  • I found Martin’s Potato Bread (in 100% Whole Wheat format nonetheless) at Publix!  I LOVE this brand of bread but once I moved from VA to GA I never saw it again.  It only took 10 years but now it is here.  I’m happy to report that the wheat version tastes as good as the white.  Goodbye Nature’s Own!

    Glad your back feels better. I managed to hurt myself doing no impact pilates. I kept going just worked out gingerly.

    LOL! I shouldn’t feel bad then. I think I made my trainer feel terrible, like it was his fault. It totally wasn’t. I don’t even know what I did!
