Krissy, mother of the oh-so-adorable Jasmine, tagged me in a post. I don’t always do these things, but what the heck. Here’s 7 things about myself that people may not know.
- I have two tattoos. I don’t regret either one, but I don’t plan to get any more.
- I don’t like romantic comedies/chick flicks. I will usually go see stuff like Brown Sugar (loved it!) or Just Wright (not so good!) out of a desire to support blacks in film. However, I really can’t tolerate that genre of moves that made Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan screen queens. Not for me.
- I don’t drink hot drinks – not coffee, not tea, not hot chocolate, nothing hot. Drinks are for quenching thirst (or getting toasted LOL). Neither of those goals requires a half-hour worth of sipping. FWIW, I don’t like milkshakes either. Drinks shouldn’t be thick or hot.
- I was seriously considering having a child solo if I didn’t get married by 35-ish. I considered joining one of those Single Mom By Choice groups and everything. Thank God The Mister came along!
- I used to twirl flags in the marching band in high school. I went on to do Winter Guard (indoor flags) in the off-season. Some may call it lame (The Mister sure does!). I had a blast. What do I know though? I was a total nerd.
- Speaking of nerds, I was the chief nerd! I was my high school valedictorian. Then I got to college and nearly everyone was valedictorian and so smart and I suddenly felt stupid.
- I’m the only woman in my immediate family without a Master’s Degree. I feel like something of an underachiever. However, I don’t really need it for my current work as a software engineer. In my field, people pay more for experience than head knowledge once you get past entry level. I had sworn I’d get one by 30 but I’m 33 now and what had happened was…
I don’t do the tagging thing, but if you are reading this and want to answer the questions – consider yourself tagged. Be sure to link to your post so I can check it out!

I am with u on the hot drinks. I do drink them but I wait until they are luke warm before I even sip.
I had the same idea about having a baby solo( which I ended up doing but not by choice lol)
U do don’t look like the tattoo’d type to me. Can’t judge a book huh lol
Ha! Tattoos – I’m so hardcore! Nah, they are tasteful IMO anyway and in spots that aren’t very visible. No “tramp stamp” or neck or cleavage tats here.
I am a big nerd too and I also have two tattoos (mine are of a butterfly and panther) I love rom-coms, the cheesier the better. and I LOVE hot tea (it’s the Jamaican in me)…ditto for milkshakes. you don’t like milkshakes…WHAAAAAT! I guess you don’t do protein shakes after workouts then.
No protein shakes here! Most of them come in icky strawberry, chocolate and vanilla flavors in attempts to mimic something I wouldn’t want to eat anyway! I have ordered some samples of a protein powder that is fruit flavored though. We’ll see how that goes.
aww mann why not on the Tramp stamps and neck cleve tats! ur so not hip! lol
I support women who decide to be a mother. It seems foolish to deny yourself a family if you want that.
I decided I would not go that route because 1) I did not want to procreate with a man/donor who could leave his child 2) I would not want to share my child with a man who either did not find me suitable or I did not find suitable to marry. I mean if I don’t want to live with him, I really don’t want my child to.
There were just too many angles.
There are a ton of angles and problems. I almost think it would be better to get a sperm donor and then just find some positive male role models for the child. Having actually had a baby now, I would not want to do it by myself. Then again, having had a baby now, I would not want to have missed out on motherhood either. I’m glad that it didn’t get to that point for me.
I know of the butterfly, but WHAT is the 2nd tattoo???
I’ll never tell (said like Brittany Murphy – RIP – in that movie)
