I found some reviews on that maternity support belt I was considering. Not good! I don’t see dropping $35 + shipping on something that most reviewers brand as itchy and hot. I’m already hot natured and I can see this as being more of a burden than a blessing. Summer’s coming up and it is already getting toasty in Atlanta!
I did a 3 mile outdoor walk on Monday and I felt OK after that. My back hurt a little but not as much as it would after 3 miles of running. I tried to be more body conscious this time around so maybe that helped. I’ll try another bit of running tomorrow but if it starts to hurt, I’ll switch out.
Walking, outdoors or not, is not nearly interesting enough for me yet to make it my regular cardio. I’m going to start doing step aerobics regularly at home again and return to my much missed Sunday step class as soon as these childbirth classes end. I think I’ll try spin class again too. Cardio Coach interval workouts on the elliptical are always challenging so I’ll keep that up as well. See, I have tons of fun options left besides running should that not work out!
Surprisingly, CrossFit has still been going very well. I do a mix of the workouts from CrossFit Moms and whatever my affiliate is doing. If the affiliate workout has too many exercises that I can’t do (e.g. a bunch of situps, burpees, etc) or is just too long (rarely the case), I switch to Moms. CrossFit Moms workouts are NO JOKE! I’m doing the Advanced level and they are never easy. My hamstrings are still a little sore from the 45lb good mornings the other day in the “Baby Noah” workout. Unlike long distance walking and running, CrossFit hasn’t ever made my back sore – go figure!
I’m still able to do most of the Olympic lifts in the workouts with reduced weight though. I’m truly listening to my body with the lifting. I have nothing to prove right now. There is no shame in going through a motion with the 15 pound bar or even the PVC pipe!
Today’s CrossFit workout at my affiliate is back squats which I fully intend to complete. Pre-pregnancy my best was back squat was 205. I won’t go near that level today but I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do. After all, I just saw a childbirth video where the women gave birth squatting. Practice makes perfect!

Let me know if you want company walking…
See you at 6AM-ish in my neighborhood LOL!
You stay busy.
If you don’t change ob’s maybe you can get a doula to attend the birth. That was she can fight the daughter while you focus on your technique.
I’m definitely wanting to use a doula this time around. Our childbirth class instructor is a doula and I want to use her since we are both comfortable with her at this point. She has a really calming presence too which I like. Doulas can’t really fight for you though. They aren’t allowed to express your wishes to the doctor at all. They can just let you know what they doctor is doing/wants to do and what that might mean in real terms.
